About John

Attorney Berman brings perspective to the firm, having served as a probate judge in West Hartford from 1983 to 2002. He practices in the areas of probate law, estate settlement and mediation and is an active member of the National College of Probate Judges. He is a volunteer para judicial officer(mediator) for the U.S. District Court, District of Hartford, CT. He was a member of the Connecticut General Assembly’s Judiciary Committee and served as a Special Master with the Hartford Superior Court Mediation Panel. He served as Corporation Counsel for West Hartford.

Attorney Berman has published widely in professional journals, including articles in the Connecticut Law Tribune, the Connecticut Probate Law Journal and the Quinnipiac Probate Law Journal. In 1996, he served as president of the Watkinson Prisoners Aid Society. He is a fellow of the American Bar Foundation and a James W. Cooper Fellow of the Connecticut Bar Foundation. Attorney Berman also served on the board of the Connecticut Council for Philanthropy.
